2025 Advent Study: Making Peace with Jonah

When you think of Jonah, you probably think of a whale – yet this short, ancient text speaks profoundly into our current time of polarisation and conflict.

Peace was the last thing Jonah wanted: is it the last thing that we want?

How will God transform us – as God transformed Jonah – into people who proclaim peace, and who work to make it real?

Week 1

We began by considering a reflection from Fr Grahame, “Jonah went to Clergy School.” We then read Jonah 1 in its entirety, and reflected on the provided questions. Click here for the handout.

This week we considered the Psalms – a particular type of poetry that is found within the Bible. We looked at the different type of Psalms, then read Jonah 2, and reflected upon the psalm found there. Click here for the handout.
